Not Turning On

Jackery Portable Power Station

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

A Jackery Explorer that will not turn on usually has a completely drained battery — the BMS (Battery Management System) has locked the unit to prevent damage. Connect the AC charger and leave it charging for at least 2 hours before attempting to power on.

Affected Models

  • Jackery Explorer 300
  • Jackery Explorer 500
  • Jackery Explorer 1000
  • Jackery Explorer 1500
  • Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro
  • All Jackery Explorer models

Common Causes

  • Battery completely drained — BMS lockout prevents power-on to protect cells
  • Power button not held long enough — requires a 1–2 second press
  • AC charger not delivering power — adapter or cable fault
  • Unit stored for an extended period and self-discharged below the BMS threshold
  • Firmware crash preventing the display from activating

How to Fix It

  1. Connect the AC charger and wait at least 2 hours.

A deeply discharged Jackery needs time before the BMS allows the unit to boot. Do not press the power button during this period. After 2 hours of charging, the display should show a battery percentage.

  2. Hold the power button for 2 seconds.

The Jackery power button requires a deliberate press and hold — a brief tap will not turn it on. Press and hold for at least 2 seconds until the display lights up or a beep is heard.

  3. Try a different AC power outlet and charger cable.

If the charger LED or display charging indicator does not light up, the wall outlet or the AC charger cable may be the issue. Try a different outlet and confirm the charger brick's indicator light is on.

  4. Check the car charger input (12V).

If the AC charger does not revive the unit, try the 12V car charger port. A different charging input can sometimes wake a deeply discharged battery that the BMS is blocking through the AC input.

  5. Contact Jackery if no input revives the unit.

If no charging method produces any display response after 4 hours, the unit needs professional assessment. Jackery offers a 2-year warranty on Explorer models. Contact support at jackery.com with your model number and purchase date.

When to Call a Professional

If the unit does not respond to any charging input after 4+ hours and the charge indicator never lights up, the BMS or battery pack may need replacement. Contact Jackery support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Jackery Explorer 1000 stored in garage for 6 months — now won't turn on. Why?

After 6 months of storage without a charge, the battery likely self-discharged below the BMS minimum threshold. Connect the AC charger immediately and leave it for 3–4 hours. Jackery recommends charging to 50% before storage and recharging every 3 months.

Jackery shows 0% on the display but won't charge — what does that mean?

A display showing 0% means the unit has power to show the screen but the BMS is refusing to charge. This can be a cell imbalance or a BMS fault. Try leaving it on charge for 8+ hours. If 0% never changes, contact Jackery support.
