Overload Error
Jackery Portable Power Station
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Jackery Explorer overload error means connected appliances drew more power than the inverter's rated output. Disconnect all devices immediately, power off the unit, wait 10 seconds, then power on again with only lower-wattage appliances connected.
Affected Models
- Jackery Explorer 300
- Jackery Explorer 500
- Jackery Explorer 1000
- Jackery Explorer 1000 Pro
- Jackery Explorer 1500
- Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro
Common Causes
- Total connected load exceeds inverter rating (500W on Explorer 500, 1000W on Explorer 1000, 2200W on Explorer 2000 Pro)
- Single high-draw appliance (space heater, microwave) over the unit limit
- Motor startup surge — appliances with motors draw 3–7× their rated wattage on startup
- Daisy-chained power strip with many devices collectively overloading the inverter
- Short circuit in connected device causing sudden current spike
How to Fix It
-
Disconnect all connected appliances immediately.
Do not try to identify the problem appliance while the unit is in overload state. Disconnect everything from AC, USB, and DC ports.
-
Power off the Jackery and wait.
Hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn the unit off completely. Wait 10 seconds for the inverter protection circuitry to reset. Then power back on normally.
-
Check appliance wattage ratings.
Read the wattage label on each appliance you were using. Add up all the wattages and compare to your Jackery model's inverter rating. Leave a safety margin of at least 20% below the maximum.
-
Watch out for motor startup surges.
Appliances with electric motors (refrigerators, air conditioners, power tools) draw 3–7× their rated wattage for the first 1–2 seconds on startup. A refrigerator rated at 150W may surge to 600W at startup — this alone can trip the overload on a smaller Jackery.
-
Reconnect one appliance at a time.
After restarting, enable AC output and reconnect the appliances you need one at a time. Watch the wattage display increase with each addition. Stop before approaching the inverter limit.
When to Call a Professional
If the overload error appears with no devices connected, or the unit does not recover after disconnecting everything and restarting, the inverter may be damaged. Contact Jackery support.
