E02
Nilfisk Pressure Washer
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
E02 on a Nilfisk means the pump is not getting enough water. Stop immediately — running dry damages pump seals. Check for a kinked hose, blocked inlet filter, or a supply tap that is not fully open.
Affected Models
- Nilfisk C 110
- Nilfisk C 120
- Nilfisk C 130
- Nilfisk E 130
- Nilfisk E 140
- Nilfisk Core 130
Common Causes
- Garden hose kinked or undersized
- Inlet filter screen blocked with debris
- Supply tap not fully open
- Water supply pressure below minimum requirement
- Trapped air in pump from previous dry running
How to Fix It
-
Stop the machine immediately.
Running the pump without adequate water flow damages internal seals rapidly. Do not continue when E02 is displayed.
-
Inspect and clean the inlet filter.
Disconnect the garden hose at the machine inlet. Pull out the small mesh filter disc and rinse it under running water to remove debris.
-
Check the garden hose.
Use a hose with at least a 1/2-inch internal diameter. Kinks or small-bore hoses restrict flow below what the pump needs.
-
Fully open the supply tap.
Turn the tap completely open. A partially open tap reduces flow rate enough to trigger E02 even with a clear hose.
-
Purge trapped air from the pump.
Hold the spray trigger while connecting the water hose (machine off). Water fills the pump and pushes air out. Release the trigger once a steady flow runs from the lance, then start.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can E02 permanently damage my Nilfisk?
A few seconds of dry running is unlikely to cause permanent damage. Extended dry running destroys the pump seals and may cause leaks. Check for leaks around the pump housing after fixing the water supply.
Why does E02 appear even with the hose connected?
E02 despite a connected hose usually means flow rate is too low, not that water is absent. Check the inlet filter, hose diameter, and whether the tap is fully open.
