Lamp Life Expiring
BenQ Projector
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
'Lamp life expiring' on BenQ means the lamp has used 80-90% of its rated life.
The projector still works fine but you should plan replacement soon.
Order a genuine BenQ replacement lamp matching your model.
The warning continues until the lamp is replaced and the lamp counter is reset.
Don't ignore — running past rated life means risk of explosive lamp failure.

How to Fix It
-
Check current lamp hours.
Menu → Information → Lamp Hours.

If at 80%+ of rated, replacement is the right call.
Note ECO Mode hours separately — they're typically rated for 2x normal hours. -
Order a genuine BenQ lamp.
Find your projector model number on the bottom or in menu Info.
Order BenQ replacement lamp matching that model (5J.J9V05.001 etc.).
Cost: 80–250 USD depending on model.
Genuine lamps are recommended — third-party lamps vary in quality and may damage the projector. -
Power off and let cool.
Turn projector off via remote.
Wait for cooling cycle (fan stops, 1-2 minutes).
Unplug from wall.
Wait additional 30 minutes for the lamp to fully cool before opening the lamp door. -
Replace the lamp module.
Open the lamp access door (on top or bottom of projector).
Loosen the retaining screw.
Lift the lamp module out by its handle.
Insert the new module carefully.
Tighten the screw and close the door. -
Reset the lamp counter.
Power on the projector.
Menu → System Setup → Lamp Settings → Reset Lamp Timer → Yes.
The counter restarts at zero.
Without reset, the warning continues even with the new lamp.
Confirm hours show '0' in the menu after reset.
