Temperature Alarm
Miele Refrigerator
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
A Miele temperature alarm means the fridge or freezer temperature has risen above the safe threshold. Check whether the door was left ajar, whether the fridge was recently loaded with warm food, or whether a component has failed.
How to Fix It
-
Check whether any door was left open or not fully closed. Even a 1-2 cm gap causes the temperature to rise quickly. Close the door firmly and wait 30 minutes for the alarm to clear.
-
If you recently loaded the fridge with a large amount of warm food, the temperature spike is normal. The alarm should clear within 1-2 hours as the food cools.
-
Check the door gasket for damage or food residue preventing a proper seal. Press the gasket firmly around the full perimeter — replace it if there are gaps or tears.
-
Press the alarm button (or Alarm Off button on your model) to mute the audible alarm. The temperature indicator will continue to flash until the compartment returns to the set temperature.
-
If the alarm continues and the temperature does not recover within 4-6 hours with the door closed, a component fault (fan, defrost heater, or compressor) is preventing normal cooling. Contact Miele service.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my Miele fridge food safe when the temperature alarm sounds?
For the fridge section, food above 4 degrees C for more than 2 hours is at risk. For the freezer, food that still has ice crystals is generally safe. If the alarm just started, food is likely still safe — act quickly.
How do I silence the Miele temperature alarm?
Press the Alarm button on the front panel. On models without a dedicated alarm button, pressing any temperature control button mutes the alarm. The alarm will resound if the temperature rises again.
Miele temperature alarm keeps coming back every few days — what should I check?
A recurring alarm suggests a door seal not sealing fully, a condenser filter that needs cleaning, or an early defrost system fault. Clean the condenser filter, check the gasket, and book a Miele service check.
