Error 202

Ecovacs Robot Vacuum

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

Error 202 is the suction fan reporting trouble — either the fan is physically blocked, or the airflow path is so restricted that the fan can't move enough air to confirm it's running properly.
Check the dust bin and filter first.
If both are clean and Error 202 persists, the fan motor is at the end of its life.
That's a service or replacement situation.

Affected Models

  • Deebot Ozmo T8
  • Deebot N8
  • Deebot N10
  • Deebot X1 Omni
  • Deebot T20

Common Causes

  • Dust bin full and blocking airflow
  • HEPA filter completely clogged
  • Object stuck in the suction inlet (sock, large debris)
  • Fan motor bearing worn — won't reach commanded speed
  • Fan blade jammed by debris (rare)

How to Fix It

  1. Empty the dust bin.

Pop the bin out — usually a button release on the top of the robot.
    Empty it completely.
Tap it on the side of the trash to dislodge any compacted debris near the inlet.
Even a half-full bin can choke the fan if compacted just wrong.

  2. Tap or wash the filter.

Pull the filter out of the bin.
Tap it firmly against a hard surface to knock dust off.
If your model says the filter is washable (check the manual), rinse it under cool water and let it air-dry for 24 hours before reinstalling.
A wet filter installed back into the robot is bad.

  3. Check the suction inlet.

    Flip the robot.
The slot where the brush sits leads to the suction channel.
Look up that channel with a flashlight.
If you see a sock, hair clump, or piece of paper wedged in there, fish it out with tweezers or a chopstick.

  4. Reset and run a short test.

Hold power for 10 seconds to reset.
Power up and start a Spot Clean cycle.
Listen — does the fan sound normal, or does it labor?
A laboring fan that still triggers Error 202 within minutes points to the motor itself.

  5. Contact Ecovacs if Error 202 persists.

If the bin and filter are clean, the inlet is clear, and Error 202 still triggers, the fan motor is failing.
That's usually not a user-replaceable part on Deebot models.
Open a support ticket with your serial number — under warranty it's covered, out of warranty it's a paid repair or replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should the filter be replaced?

Every 2–3 months of regular use, or sooner if you have pets.
Filters are cheap (5–10 USD for a pack of two) and a fresh filter dramatically improves suction.
A washed filter never has the same airflow as a new one — washing is a stretch, not a long-term plan.

Why does Error 202 only happen on carpet?

Carpet creates more airflow resistance than hard floor — the fan works harder, runs hotter, and a marginal motor will trip the protection on carpet first.
If Error 202 only shows on carpet, the motor is on its way out.
Hard-floor cleaning will keep working for a while but plan for replacement.
