Cannot Find Charging Station
eufy Robot Vacuum
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
When a eufy robot vacuum cannot find its charging station, the dock has been moved from where the robot last saw it, or furniture is blocking the dock's infrared homing signal. Placing the dock against a flat wall with clear space in front and on both sides lets the robot navigate back reliably.
Affected Models
- eufy RoboVac 11S
- eufy RoboVac 15C
- eufy RoboVac G30
- eufy RoboVac X8 series
- Most eufy RoboVac models
Common Causes
- Dock has been moved since the robot's last successful docking
- Furniture or objects blocking the infrared signal beam from the dock
- Direct sunlight hitting the dock's infrared sensor, overpowering the signal
- Dark-coloured flooring absorbing the dock's signal
- Dock placed in a corner or too close to a wall on one side
How to Fix It
-
Position the dock against a flat wall with at least 0.5 metres of clear space on each side and at least 1.5 metres of clear space directly in front.
The robot navigates back to the dock using an infrared beam projected in a cone shape. Objects blocking this cone prevent the robot from finding its way home.
-
Do not place the dock in direct sunlight or near a window with strong afternoon sun — sunlight can overwhelm the dock's infrared signal.
If the dock must go near a window, close the blinds during the robot's cleaning cycle.
-
Place the robot manually on the dock to charge it, then run a new cleaning cycle from the dock — starting from the dock helps the robot map the return path.
If the robot consistently cannot find the dock after cleaning large areas, consider using virtual boundaries or setting up a mapping run so the robot learns the room layout.
-
Keep the dock in a consistent location. Moving the dock between uses is the most common cause of homing failures.
The robot memorises the dock's approximate location during each cleaning cycle. Moving the dock even 1-2 metres can cause the robot to search in the wrong area.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if the eufy robot runs out of battery before finding the dock?
The robot will stop wherever it is when the battery runs out. You will need to pick it up, place it on the dock manually to charge, then run a new cleaning cycle. Keeping the dock in a consistent, open location prevents this.
Can the eufy robot find its dock across multiple rooms?
Basic eufy RoboVac models use infrared only and may struggle to navigate across multiple rooms to find the dock. Higher-end models with laser navigation (LiDAR) map the entire home and return to the dock reliably from any room.
