Error 10
Roborock Robot Vacuum
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
Roborock Error 10 means the robot's magnetic field sensor detected a strong magnetic signal and stopped as a result. Magnetic boundary strips (used to set virtual no-go zones on older Roborock models) are the most common cause. Removing the magnetic strip or moving the robot away from the source clears the error.
Affected Models
- Roborock S5
- Roborock S6
- Roborock E4
- Roborock E5
- Roborock S5 Max
Common Causes
- A magnetic boundary strip placed on the floor is blocking the robot's path — working as intended
- Robot wandered near a magnetic object (speaker magnets, magnetic cabinet closers, magnetic toy sets)
- Magnetic boundary strip was placed accidentally in the robot's required path
- Strong magnetic field from nearby appliances (subwoofers, older CRT televisions)
How to Fix It
-
Check where the robot stopped. Look on the floor for a magnetic boundary strip — a thin adhesive tape with a magnetic core, usually supplied with older Roborock models.
Magnetic strips are often placed under rugs or along door thresholds. They are easy to forget about.
-
If you find a magnetic strip, decide whether it is where you want it. If it is blocking a needed path, move or remove it.
If the strip is intentional (blocking stairs or a room), the robot is working correctly — it stopped because you told it to. Error 10 in this context is expected behaviour.
-
If there is no magnetic strip, check for nearby magnetic objects: speaker magnets, magnetic whiteboard accessories, magnetic cabinet catches, or children's magnetic toy sets.
Strong speaker magnets in particular can trigger Error 10 from several centimetres away.
-
Move the robot away from the area and restart via the power button or the app. If Error 10 does not reappear, the magnetic source was in that spot.
If you have a newer Roborock model with app-based no-go zones, consider switching to digital boundaries instead of physical magnetic strips.
When to Call a Professional
Error 10 is almost always environmental, not a hardware fault. If the error appears in a room with no magnetic objects or strips and on every cleaning run, the magnetic sensor inside the robot may have a fault. Contact Roborock support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do newer Roborock models still use magnetic boundary strips?
Most newer Roborock models (S7 and later) use the app for virtual no-go zones instead of physical magnetic strips. Physical magnetic strips were mainly used on older S5 and E-series models. If your model supports app-based zones, you can retire the physical strips entirely.
My Roborock stops in the same spot every time with Error 10 but there is no strip there — why?
There is likely a hidden magnetic source at that location — a magnetic cabinet latch under the floor trim, a magnetic door stop, or a speaker inside a piece of furniture. Run your hand along the floor and nearby furniture in that spot to feel for magnetic attraction.
