005

Husqvarna Robotic Lawn Mower

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

Error 005 on a Husqvarna Automower means the rear loop sensor cannot read the boundary signal. Check the charging station LED is on and walk the boundary wire to look for breaks. The fix is identical to error 004 but applies to the rear sensor.

Affected Models

  • Husqvarna Automower 305
  • Husqvarna Automower 315
  • Husqvarna Automower 315X
  • Husqvarna Automower 430X
  • Husqvarna Automower 450X

Common Causes

  • Boundary wire broken or connection loose at the charging station
  • Charging station not receiving power
  • Mower stranded in a dead zone where signal is too weak
  • Failed rear loop sensor (uncommon)

How to Fix It

  1. Confirm the charging station is on.

Check the LED on the charging station — green indicates a working boundary signal. No LED means no signal is being transmitted, and any sensor will fail to detect.

  2. Walk the boundary loop.

Inspect the boundary wire from start to end, paying attention to corners, gateways, and any spot where mechanical work has happened recently. A snapped wire is the most common cause.

  3. Use the wire-break detection mode.

If a break is suspected but not visible, use the Automower's wire-break detection feature — beeping pattern intensifies near the break.

  4. Move the mower and retry.

Carry the mower close to a confirmed-good section of boundary wire. Press START. If error 005 clears with the mower near the wire but returns far from it, the boundary signal is too weak in some sections — consider rerouting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I worry about getting error 004 and 005 on the same day?

Errors 004 and 005 together usually point to a global signal problem — the charging station is off, the boundary wire is fully broken, or both ends are disconnected. Fix the signal source and both errors clear together.

Can rain cause Husqvarna error 005?

Yes, indirectly — heavy rain can push down high grass, expose the boundary wire to lawn equipment damage, and cause moisture ingress at any unsealed wire connector. Persistent 005 after rain points to a connector failure.
