E5
Worx Robotic Lawn Mower
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Worx Landroid Error E5 means the built-in rain sensor has detected moisture and the mower has automatically returned to base and suspended mowing. This is a normal protective feature — mowing wet grass reduces cutting quality and can damage the lawn. E5 clears automatically once the sensor dries out and the mowing schedule resumes. No action is required in most cases.
Affected Models
- Worx Landroid L WR153E
- Worx Landroid M WR143E
- Worx Landroid S WR130E
- Worx Landroid Vision L700i
- Worx Landroid WR167E
Common Causes
- Rain is falling or has recently fallen and the sensor is still wet
- Morning dew has wetted the sensor surface above the trigger threshold
- Sprinkler water from nearby irrigation has hit the sensor
- The rain sensor is dirty or fouled with debris, making it oversensitive
- The rain sensor itself has developed a fault and is falsely triggering in dry conditions
How to Fix It
-
Check whether it is actually raining or the lawn is wet
E5 is a normal, expected behaviour in wet conditions — not a fault. If rain is falling or the lawn is visibly wet, simply allow the mower to stay docked. It will resume automatically once the sensor dries, typically 1–3 hours after rain stops depending on conditions.
-
Clean the rain sensor if E5 triggers in clearly dry conditions
The rain sensor is a small pad on the top of the mower. If leaves, pollen, or dirt have accumulated on it, it can trigger falsely. Wipe the sensor pad gently with a damp cloth and allow it to dry. Restart the mower to check whether E5 clears.
-
Adjust the rain sensor sensitivity in the Landroid app or panel
Many Worx Landroid models allow adjusting rain sensor sensitivity. In the Landroid app or on the control panel, find the Rain Sensor setting and reduce the sensitivity level (typically from 1 to 3 or 1 to 5 scale). A lower sensitivity setting prevents dew or fine mist from triggering E5 unnecessarily.
-
Disable the rain sensor temporarily if dew is the problem
If E5 repeatedly triggers due to morning dew rather than actual rain, disable the rain sensor setting in the app and schedule mowing sessions for mid-morning when the dew has evaporated. Re-enable the sensor for periods when rain is expected.
-
Inspect the rain sensor for damage if false E5 continues
If E5 triggers immediately in dry conditions even after cleaning and sensitivity adjustment, the sensor itself may be damaged — cracked, corroded, or waterlogged internally. A malfunctioning rain sensor requires replacement. Contact Worx support for a replacement sensor or service.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I permanently disable the rain sensor on a Worx Landroid?
Yes — the rain sensor can be disabled via the Worx Landroid app or directly on the panel settings on most models. Navigate to settings and toggle the rain sensor to OFF. Note that with the sensor disabled, the mower will attempt to mow in wet conditions, which can damage the lawn and reduce cutting quality.
How long does E5 last after rain stops?
E5 typically clears within 30–120 minutes after rain stops, depending on temperature, humidity, and sun exposure. The mower will automatically resume its schedule once the sensor detects it is dry. If E5 persists for more than 3 hours after rain has stopped and the sun is out, clean the sensor and check its sensitivity setting.
