Camera Busy

Blink Security Camera

Severity: Minor

What it means

'Camera Busy' (or 'Camera is currently in use') means the camera can only do one job at a time and it's already doing one.
Usually that's because someone else in the household has live view open, the camera is recording a motion clip, or a previous session didn't close cleanly.
It almost always clears itself within a minute or two.

Affected Models

  • Blink Mini and Blink Mini 2
  • Blink Indoor (3rd gen)
  • Blink Outdoor (3rd gen) and Blink Outdoor 4
  • Blink XT2
  • Blink Video Doorbell

Common Causes

  • Another phone/account in the household has live view open on that camera
  • The camera is recording a motion-triggered clip right now
  • A previous live-view session didn't end cleanly and is still 'holding' the camera
  • Several quick live-view attempts queued up faster than the camera could handle
  • Sync Module needs a reboot to clear a stuck state

How to Fix It

  1. Wait one to two minutes, then try again.

Motion clips are short, and a stuck session times out on its own.
Most 'Camera Busy' messages disappear if you just wait a minute or two and tap again.

  2. Check nobody else is using it.

If other family members have the Blink app, ask whether anyone has live view open on that camera.
Two people can't stream the same camera at once — one has to close out first.

  3. Fully close and reopen the Blink app.

Swipe the app away from your recent-apps list (don't just background it) and reopen it.
That ends any half-open session your own phone was holding.

  4. Reboot the Sync Module.

If it stays 'busy' for ages with nobody using it, unplug the Sync Module for ten seconds and plug it back in.
Wait for solid green and solid blue, then try the camera again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can two people watch the same Blink camera at the same time?

No.
Blink cameras handle one connection at a time — one live view, or one motion recording — so if a second person tries to open live view they'll get 'Camera Busy' until the first one closes.
If you regularly need more than one person watching, that's a built-in limit of the hardware rather than something a setting can change.
