Oura shows 'Membership expired' when the monthly or annual Oura Membership subscription has lapsed.
The ring continues to record data, but most insights — Readiness, Sleep score, Activity score, advanced metrics — are locked behind the subscription.
Basic battery and sync still work.
Renewing through the App Store or Google Play restores full functionality immediately.

Common Causes
- Subscription auto-renew failed (expired card)
- Manual cancellation from the App Store or Google Play

How to Fix It

Check the App Store or Play Store.
On iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Oura.
On Android: Play Store → Profile → Payments and Subscriptions → Subscriptions → Oura.
The status shows whether the subscription is active, expired, or cancelled. -
Update payment method.
If the auto-renew failed because of an expired card, update the card on file with the App Store or Play Store account.
Most subscriptions renew automatically on the next attempt within 24 hours. -
Renew manually if needed.
From within the Oura app: Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription.
Or from the App Store / Play Store directly.
Restored access typically takes effect within 5-15 minutes after the charge clears. -
Sign out and back in if features are stuck.
If you renewed but the app still shows expired, sign out and sign back in.
This refreshes the subscription state from Oura's servers.

Use Lifetime if you have older Heritage.
If you bought an Oura Ring Generation 3 Heritage before the late-2021 subscription change, you may have lifetime free access.
Contact Oura support — they can confirm your account eligibility and reactivate Lifetime if it was incorrectly downgraded. -
