Stuck on Logo

Sharp Smart TV

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

A Sharp TV frozen on the AQUOS startup logo has corrupted firmware, most often from an interrupted update. Unplugging for 60 seconds sometimes clears it. If not, pressing the pinhole Reset button on the back while plugging the TV in forces a factory reset and restores normal booting.

Affected Models

  • Sharp Aquos 4K
  • Sharp 4T-C Series
  • Sharp Android TV
  • Sharp LC Series
  • Sharp 2T-C Series

Common Causes

  • A firmware update was interrupted — power cut or accidental button press during install
  • The TV's system partition has become corrupted
  • Initial setup was interrupted before the first boot completed
  • A factory reset was started and interrupted before finishing
  • Main board storage failure prevents the boot sequence from completing

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the TV for 60 seconds. Plug back in and allow up to 3 minutes for the boot to complete.

Be patient — some logo-freeze cases resolve with a full power drain. Do not interrupt the boot.

  2. Locate the Reset pinhole on the back of the TV. Unplug the TV, insert a paperclip, hold the button, then plug the TV in while continuing to hold for 20 seconds.

The TV will boot into recovery or factory reset mode. Release the button once you see progress.

  3. On Sharp Android TV that is partially responsive: Settings → Device Preferences → Reset → Factory Data Reset → Erase Everything.

If the TV responds briefly to remote input during startup, try to reach settings immediately.

  4. After a successful factory reset, the TV will run the initial setup wizard.

Do not interrupt any firmware updates offered during initial setup — allow them to complete fully.

  5. Contact Sharp support if neither a power cycle nor a reset resolves it. Provide the model number from the back of the TV.

Sharp may supply a firmware USB recovery image for your model.

When to Call a Professional

If both a power cycle and a pinhole reset fail to get past the logo, the TV's internal flash storage or main board may have failed. Contact Sharp support — logo-freeze after a firmware update is sometimes handled as a warranty case.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should the Sharp logo stay on screen during a normal boot?

A normal Sharp Aquos TV boot takes 25 to 50 seconds before the home screen appears. More than 2 minutes on the logo screen means the boot is frozen.

Will factory reset delete all my streaming accounts?

A factory reset erases local account data only — your streaming subscriptions remain active on the service servers. Signing back into your accounts after the reset restores access to all your content.

Logo screen appears then goes black — is that the same as being stuck on logo?

Not quite — a black screen after the logo suggests the TV booted but the display handshake failed. Try the TV without any HDMI devices connected. If the home screen appears, an external device was disrupting the display signal during boot.
