Envoy Offline

Enphase Microinverter

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

An offline Enphase Envoy means the gateway has lost its internet connection — your microinverters are likely still producing power. Restart your home router and the Envoy to restore the connection in most cases.

Affected Models

  • Enphase Envoy-S Metered
  • Enphase Envoy-S Standard
  • Enphase IQ Gateway
  • Enphase IQ Combiner

Common Causes

  • Home router restarted or replaced — Envoy lost its network connection
  • Ethernet cable to the Envoy unplugged or damaged
  • Wi-Fi password changed after router upgrade
  • Enphase cloud server outage
  • Envoy IP address conflict on the local network

How to Fix It

  1. Restart the Envoy and your router.

Unplug the Envoy from its power outlet. Turn off your home router for 30 seconds and back on. Plug the Envoy back in. Allow 10–15 minutes for the Envoy to boot and reconnect to the Enphase cloud.

  2. Check the Envoy status lights.

The Envoy has status LEDs on the front. A solid green light on the Internet LED means it is connected to the cloud. An amber or red Internet LED means it cannot reach the Enphase servers — the router or network credentials are the issue.

  3. Confirm the Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi connection.

If using Ethernet, check that the cable is firmly plugged into both the Envoy and the router. If using Wi-Fi, open a browser on a device connected to the same network and go to envoy.local to access the Envoy's local web interface and check its network status.

  4. Reconfigure Wi-Fi if the password changed.

Open the Enlighten app → select your system → Devices → Envoy → Network Settings. Follow the steps to re-enter your Wi-Fi credentials. Alternatively, connect via envoy.local in a browser on the same network.

  5. Check Enphase service status.

Enphase occasionally has cloud server maintenance. Check the Enphase status page or community forums to see if other users are also seeing Envoys offline at the same time.

When to Call a Professional

If the Envoy cannot connect even after power-cycling and reconfiguring Wi-Fi, the Envoy hardware or its network adapter may be faulty. Contact Enphase support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Envoy offline for a week — has my system stopped producing?

Probably not — the Envoy being offline only affects monitoring and data upload, not actual power production. Check your electricity meter or inverter display directly to confirm power is being generated.

Envoy was working fine for 3 years then went offline — what changed?

A router replacement, ISP change, or new router firmware can cause the Envoy to lose its stored network credentials. Reconfigure the Envoy's network settings via the Enlighten app or envoy.local to restore the connection.
