Error 25

SolarEdge Solar Inverter

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Error 25 on a SolarEdge inverter is an internal hardware fault — a component on the inverter PCB has failed self-test. Production stops. The inverter typically requires replacement under warranty. Contact your installer or SolarEdge support immediately.

Affected Models

  • SolarEdge SE3000H
  • SolarEdge SE7600H
  • SolarEdge SE10000H
  • SolarEdge SE11400H-US
  • SolarEdge HD-Wave

Common Causes

  • Failed component on the inverter main board
  • Failed RCD (residual current device) inside the inverter
  • Internal cooling fan failure causing overheating damage
  • Power surge damage from lightning or grid event
  • Aged inverter (fault more common after 8+ years)

How to Fix It

  1. Power off the inverter.

Switch the AC and DC isolators to OFF. Wait 5 minutes for the inverter to fully discharge before further action.

  2. Power-cycle once.

After 5 minutes, switch back on. Some Error 25 events from a transient hardware glitch clear after a cold restart. If Error 25 returns immediately, do not repeat — extended attempts can worsen damage.

  3. Note the inverter age and warranty status.

SolarEdge inverters carry a 12-year standard warranty (extendable to 25). Find your installation date and SolarEdge serial number — your installer can check warranty status.

  4. Contact your installer.

Provide the inverter serial number, error code, installation date. The installer will create a SolarEdge support ticket. Replacement under warranty typically takes 1–4 weeks for the new inverter to arrive.

  5. Plan for production loss during downtime.

While waiting for the replacement inverter, your system produces nothing. Lost production averages 100–500 kWh per month depending on system size and weather. Some installers offer loan inverters during long delays.

When to Call a Professional

Error 25 is a hardware fault that is not user-resolvable. The inverter must be inspected, repaired, or replaced under warranty by SolarEdge or an authorised service provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Error 25 covered under SolarEdge warranty?

Yes — internal hardware faults are covered under the 12-year standard warranty. SolarEdge typically ships a replacement inverter at no charge; the installer charges a reasonable fee for the swap labour (USD 150–350 depending on access).

Can Error 25 be fixed in the field?

Generally no — SolarEdge inverters are sealed units that are replaced rather than repaired. Field-level component replacement is not supported. SolarEdge ships a new inverter; the failed unit is returned to SolarEdge for refurbishment or recycling.
