WiFi Pairing Failed
Anova Sous Vide Cooker
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
Anova WiFi pairing fails when the cooker can't join your home network during setup.
Most often: phone on 5GHz when cooker only does 2.4GHz, WiFi password typo, or the cooker's WiFi module hung from a previous attempt.
Switch phone to 2.4GHz, hard-reset the cooker (hold the button 10 seconds), and start setup fresh from the Anova app.
Affected Models
- Anova Precision Cooker WiFi
- Anova Precision Cooker Pro
- Anova Precision Cooker 3.0
- Anova Nano
Common Causes
- Phone connected to 5GHz network instead of 2.4GHz
- WiFi password mistyped
- WPA3 enterprise security (not supported)
- Router uses captive portal
- Cooker WiFi module hung from prior attempt
How to Fix It
-
Switch phone to 2.4GHz WiFi.
Anova cookers only join 2.4GHz networks.
If your router has separate SSIDs for 2.4 and 5GHz, connect your phone to the 2.4 one for setup.
If your router uses one combined SSID, the phone may have picked 5GHz — check the WiFi info screen on iPhone (i icon) or Android settings. -
Hard-reset the cooker.
Hold the cooker's button (the round one on the head) for 10 seconds.
The display flashes through reset states and returns to a clean pairing-ready state.
This clears stuck WiFi attempts. -
Force-quit and reopen the Anova app.
Sometimes the app holds stale Bluetooth state.
Force quit (swipe up and away on iOS, or recent apps menu on Android), reopen, retry pairing. -
Confirm WPA2 security.
Anova doesn't support WPA3 enterprise (work/school networks with sign-in).
It needs WPA2-Personal or WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode.
Check your router admin page if unsure. -
Start setup from scratch.
App → Add Device → Anova Precision Cooker.
Follow prompts.
Stay close to the cooker (within 5 feet) for the Bluetooth handshake.
Type WiFi password carefully when prompted. -
Check router 2.4GHz channel.
Some routers default to channel auto and pick a crowded one.
Set the 2.4GHz radio to channel 1, 6, or 11 manually.
This sometimes fixes 'WiFi setup completes then immediately drops' issues.
