E3
Inkbird Sous Vide Cooker
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
Inkbird sous vide E3 means the circulation pump motor isn't running properly.
Either the impeller is jammed by food debris, the cooker bottom is sitting on something blocking water flow, or the motor has actually failed.
Power off, remove the cooker from water, unscrew the bottom skirt, and check for debris around the impeller.
Most E3 errors clear after cleaning.
Affected Models
- Inkbird ISV-100W
- Inkbird ISV-200W
- Inkbird ISV-300W
- Inkbird Sous Vide WiFi
Common Causes
- Food particles wrapped around the pump impeller
- Mineral or scale buildup restricting impeller
- Cooker rested on the bottom of the pot (no water intake clearance)
- Pump motor failed (rare on newer units)
- Power supply not delivering full voltage
How to Fix It
-
Power off and remove from water.
Press the power button to stop.
Lift the cooker out of the water bath.
Set on a towel — water will drip from the heater housing.
Let cool 5 minutes. -
Unscrew the bottom skirt.
Inkbird cookers have a removable stainless skirt at the bottom — twist counter-clockwise to unscrew.
This exposes the heating element and the impeller. -
Inspect and clean the impeller.
Look for food bits, hair, or scale wrapped around the impeller blades.
Use a soft brush and warm soapy water to clean.
Spin the impeller by hand — should turn freely with light resistance from the magnet. -
Descale if needed.
If you see white/brown buildup, descale by running the cooker in a 50/50 white vinegar and water bath at 60°C for 30 minutes.
The acid dissolves scale.
Then run plain water for 15 minutes to flush. -
Reattach skirt and test.
Screw the skirt back on (clockwise) until snug.
Submerge in fresh water and power on.
Watch for steady water flow from the bottom intake — visible swirl in the bath confirms the pump is running.
E3 should be gone. -
Don't rest cooker on pot bottom.
The cooker needs water intake clearance.
Use the included clip to mount it on the pot wall.
Sitting on the bottom blocks intake and reproduces E3 even after cleaning.
Frequently Asked Questions
