E4
Tineco Vacuum Cleaner
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
E4 specifically means the brush roller is tangled with hair. This is the most common Tineco error. Open the brush cover, remove the roller, cut and remove all wrapped hair, then reinstall to clear E4.
Affected Models
- Tineco FLOOR ONE S5
- Tineco FLOOR ONE S7
- Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 Pro
- Tineco PURE ONE S11
- Tineco PURE ONE S15
Common Causes
- Long hair wrapped and compacted around the brush roller
- Pet fur building up in the roller end caps
- String, thread, or fibres wound around the roller shaft
How to Fix It
-
Switch off and open the brush roller cover.
The brush cover on Tineco FLOOR ONE models opens forward with a tab at the front. Lift it to expose the brush roller.
-
Remove the brush roller.
Lift the roller straight out of its channel. E4 is specifically about hair — look for a visible buildup of wrapped hair along the roller's length.
-
Cut and remove all wrapped hair.
Use scissors to cut along the length of the roller — cut in two or three places to break the hair into shorter sections. Pull all the cut hair off the roller and clear the end caps.
-
Clean the brush channel.
Remove any hair or debris from inside the brush roller channel. Hair accumulates at the far ends of the channel near the end cap slots.
-
Reinstall and restart.
Click the roller back in and close the cover firmly. E4 clears immediately once the roller is free to spin.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Tineco E3 and E4?
E3 means the brush roller stalled for any reason (debris, bearing, or blockage). E4 is specifically a hair tangle detection — Tineco's sensor identified hair as the cause of the stall. The fix for both is the same: clean the brush roller.
How do I stop Tineco E4 from happening so often?
Clean the brush roller after every session involving long hair. Tineco also sells anti-tangle brush rollers for some models — these use a spiral bristle pattern that sheds hair more easily and reduces E4 frequency significantly.
