UE
LG Washing Machine
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
LG washer UE error means the load is unbalanced — the drum cannot reach spin speed safely. Open the door, redistribute the laundry evenly, and restart the spin cycle.
Affected Models
- LG Front Load Washer
- LG Top Load Washer
- LG WashTower
- LG ThinQ Washer
Common Causes
- Single heavy item spinning off-centre
- Laundry tangled into a ball on one side
- Too small a load — one or two items cannot balance
- Washing machine not level on the floor
- Worn shock absorbers or suspension springs
How to Fix It
-
Open the door and redistribute the laundry.
Pull clothes apart and spread them evenly around the drum. Single heavy items like jeans or towels wrapped around each other are the most common cause of UE.
-
Check the load size.
Very small loads of one or two items cannot balance. Add a couple of similar-weight items, or switch to a hand-wash or delicate cycle for single garments.
-
Level the washing machine.
Place a spirit level on top of the machine. Adjust the four levelling feet underneath until the machine is perfectly level front-to-back and side-to-side. Lock the feet with the jam nuts when done.
-
Restart the spin cycle.
Select Spin Only and run at a lower speed (800–1000 RPM) first. If it completes without UE, gradually increase the spin speed in future washes.
When to Call a Professional
If UE appears consistently on properly loaded, level machines, the shock absorbers or suspension rods have worn out and need professional replacement.
