4C
Samsung Washing Machine
Severity: CriticalWhat it means
Samsung washer 4C error means the machine cannot fill with water — Samsung's 'Not filling error'.
Check the water tap is fully open, inspect the inlet hoses for kinks, and clean the mesh filters on the inlet valve.
Affected Models
- Samsung Front Load Washer
- Samsung Top Load Washer
- Samsung AddWash Washer
- Samsung EcoBubble Washer
- Samsung QuickDrive Washer
Common Causes
- Water tap not fully open or turned off
- Kinked or crushed inlet hose behind the machine
- Blocked mesh filter on the inlet valve
- Low water pressure from household supply (below 0.5 bar)
- Faulty water inlet valve solenoid
How to Fix It
-
Check the water tap.
Locate the cold water tap behind the machine.
Turn it fully counter-clockwise to open.
A partially open tap causes low flow that triggers 4C. -
Check the inlet hose for kinks.
Pull the machine slightly away from the wall and inspect the inlet hose along its full length.
Straighten any bends.
Confirm the hose isn't crushed against the wall. -
Clean the mesh filters.
Turn off the tap and unscrew the inlet hose from the back of the machine.
Inside the connection port there is a small mesh filter.
Remove with pliers, rinse under running water, refit.
These block gradually over years of use. -
Check household water pressure.
Samsung washers need at least 0.5 bar.
If other taps in the house have weak flow too, the household supply is the issue — contact your water supplier.
When to Call a Professional
If the tap is open, hoses are straight, and mesh filters are clean but 4C persists, the water inlet valve solenoid has failed and needs replacement.
