LC
Samsung Washing Machine
Severity: CriticalWhat it means
Samsung washer LC error means moisture has been detected by the leak sensor in the base of the machine — Samsung's 'Water level or leakage error'.
The washer stops the cycle to prevent flooding the room.
Most cases are a hose connection that's loosened over time, a worn door seal, or a perished drain pump gasket.
Affected Models
- Samsung Front Load Washer
- Samsung Top Load Washer
- Samsung AddWash Washer
- Samsung EcoBubble Washer
- Samsung QuickDrive Washer
Common Causes
- Inlet hose connection loose at the back of the machine
- Door seal (gasket) worn, torn, or with mould
- Drain pump or its gasket leaking under the machine
- Detergent drawer overflow due to too much detergent or blocked drain holes
- Water level sensor faulty (false reading)
How to Fix It
-
Unplug and check for visible water.
Switch the washer off at the wall.
Look at the floor around and under the machine.
If there's standing water, mop it up and find the source by feeling along hoses and the door seal. -
Tighten inlet hose connections.
At the back of the machine, check both ends of the inlet hose are firmly hand-tight.
Check the rubber washers inside the connections aren't perished.
Replace if cracked. -
Inspect the door seal.
Open the door and check the rubber gasket all the way around.
Look for tears, holes, or hard mould patches.
A torn seal is replaceable as a single part — moderately involved but doable for a confident DIYer. -
Check detergent drawer.
Remove the detergent drawer and rinse it under the tap.
Make sure the small holes inside the housing aren't blocked with detergent crust.
Overdosing detergent causes back-up that drips inside the machine and triggers LC.
When to Call a Professional
If you've checked all hoses and the door seal but LC keeps appearing dry, the leak sensor has failed and is reporting false moisture — replacement is a technician job.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Samsung LC error dangerous? Should I keep using the washer?
LC is the washer protecting itself and your home from a flood — don't bypass it or keep starting cycles hoping it goes away.
Switch the washer off at the wall and find the source of the leak before next use.
If the leak is a small hose loosening, tightening it solves the issue safely.
If the leak is from the drum or pump, ignoring LC risks substantial water damage to flooring and the home.
