E060
Navien Tankless Water Heater
Severity: ModerateWhat it means
Navien E060 means the air pressure sensor — the part that confirms the combustion fan is moving air properly — is sending a reading the control board can't accept.
Most often it's a small silicone hose that's slipped off, cracked, or got condensate in it, so the sensor can't see the pressure it expects.
It can also be the fan running slow, a vent restriction, or the sensor itself failing.
The unit won't fire until the air side checks out.
Affected Models
- Navien NPE-180A, NPE-210A, NPE-240A (Classic)
- Navien NPE-180S, NPE-210S, NPE-240S
- Navien NPE-2 series
- Navien NCB-E combi-boilers
- Navien NPN series
Common Causes
- Pressure-sensing hose between the fan/venturi and the APS slipped off or cracked
- Condensate trapped in the sensing hose blocking the signal
- Combustion fan running slow — dust on the wheel or a tired bearing
- Vent or intake partly blocked, throwing off the pressure reading
- Air pressure sensor failed
- Loose connector on the sensor or fan wiring
How to Fix It
-
Reset once.
Power off at the panel, wait ten seconds, power back on, run a hot tap.
A transient E060 from a momentary condensate slug sometimes clears.
If it comes right back, open it up. -
Check the sensing hoses.
Breaker off, cover off.
Find the thin silicone tube(s) running to the air pressure sensor near the fan.
Make sure each end is fully pushed on, the tube isn't cracked or pinched, and there's no water sitting in it.
Pop a tube off, blow it clear, push it firmly back on. -
Spin the combustion fan.
With power off, give the fan wheel a flick — it should spin freely and quietly.
A wheel caked in dust or a bearing that grinds will slow the fan enough that the pressure reading falls outside the window.
Vacuum the wheel gently; a noisy bearing means a replacement fan motor. -
Clear the vent and intake.
Walk outside and clear the termination of nests, lint, leaves, or snow.
Inside, check and clean the unit's air inlet filter.
Anything restricting airflow changes the pressure the sensor sees. -
If the air path is clean, replace the sensor.
Hoses good, fan spins free, vent and intake clear — then the air pressure sensor itself has failed.
It's a modest part, but getting at it and confirming the diagnosis is best left to a Navien service tech.
