Beeping

Coway Air Purifier

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

A brief beep on button presses is normal confirmation feedback. A persistent or repeating beep usually means the filter needs replacing — check if the filter indicator light is on. On Airmega models, the IoCare app shows the exact reason for the alarm under the device alert section.

Affected Models

  • Coway AP-1512HH (Mighty)
  • Coway AP-1512HHS (Mighty Smart)
  • Coway Airmega 200M
  • Coway Airmega 300 / 400

Common Causes

  • Filter change reminder — filter timer has reached the replacement threshold
  • Air quality alarm — sensors detecting very high pollution
  • Button confirmation beeps — normal single beep when pressing any control
  • Power-on beep — normal startup sound

How to Fix It

  1. Check the filter indicator. If any filter light is on (pre-filter, HEPA, or carbon), the beeping is a filter replacement reminder. Replace the affected filter and reset the indicator.

The Coway Mighty has three filter indicators on the top panel. Each one corresponds to a different filter stage — check which light is illuminated to identify which filter to replace.

  2. Check the air quality light colour. A red or deep orange air quality indicator alongside beeping means the machine is alerting you to poor air quality — the beep is an alert, not a fault.

In this case, ventilate the room or identify the pollution source. The beep stops once air quality improves.

  3. If the beeping happens continuously without an obvious cause, reset the machine by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in.

A firmware glitch after a power fluctuation can sometimes cause spurious alarm beeps that a power cycle resolves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I turn off Coway button beep sounds?

On most Coway Mighty models, button beeps cannot be disabled — they are a fixed feedback feature. Some Airmega smart models allow sound settings to be adjusted in the IoCare app. If nighttime beeping is disruptive, place the machine in a room away from sleeping areas or enable Night mode which reduces alarm sensitivity.
