E4
Tami4 Water Dispenser
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
Error E4 on a Tami4 means the hot water heating system is not working correctly. The unit has detected a problem with the heating element, the thermostat, or the hot water temperature sensor.
Affected Models
- Tami4 Edge
- Tami4 Neo
- Tami4 Pro
- Tami4 Classic (hot water models)
Common Causes
- Faulty heating element
- Overheating thermostat has tripped (thermal cut-out)
- Hot water temperature sensor failure
- Scale/limescale buildup on the heating element reducing efficiency
- Wiring fault inside the heating circuit
How to Fix It
-
Restart the unit
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to fully restart. In some cases a temporary thermal cut-out resets after the unit cools down and restarts.
-
Check the power supply
Make sure the unit is plugged into a working socket. Try a different socket if in doubt.
-
Let the unit cool
If the unit has been running for a long time or was recently moved, let it sit unpowered for 15 minutes before restarting.
-
Contact Tami4 service
If E4 returns after restarting, call Tami4's service line or raise a ticket through the Tami4 app. Do not attempt to open the unit yourself.
When to Call a Professional
Yes — internal heating components should only be serviced by a Tami4 technician.
Tami4 Error E4 — Hot Water System Problem
E4 signals a fault in the hot water heating circuit. Your Tami4 can no longer heat water to the boiling or near-boiling temperature required for hot drinks, instant noodles, or baby formula.
What You Can Still Do
The cold and ambient water functions remain available. You can continue using the dispenser for drinking water while you arrange a repair.
Common Fix: Thermal Reset
Before calling for service, try a full power restart with a 15-minute cool-down period. Some E4 codes are caused by a thermal safety switch that trips during unusually hot ambient conditions (e.g., the unit placed in direct sunlight or a very warm room). Moving it to a cooler spot and restarting sometimes resolves the issue.
If E4 returns, a Tami4 technician visit is required.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still get cold and room-temperature water while E4 is showing?
Yes — the cold and ambient water circuits are separate from the heating circuit. You can continue using those while waiting for a service visit.
Is limescale a common cause of E4?
Yes, especially in areas with hard water. Heavy scale on the heating element forces it to work harder, leading to overheating and eventual failure. Regular descaling as part of a service plan helps prevent this.
