Calibration Required

Mobileye ADAS Collision Warning System

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

A calibration required message on Mobileye means the system's knowledge of how the camera is mounted relative to the vehicle has been lost or is no longer valid. Mobileye must know the camera's exact height, tilt angle, and position to calculate accurate distances and warning timings. Calibration is performed by a Mobileye installer using a specific driving procedure.

Affected Models

  • Mobileye 6 Series
  • Mobileye 8 Connect
  • Mobileye Shield+
  • Mobileye 630
  • Mobileye 650

Common Causes

  • Camera moved or remounted — bracket came loose or camera was repositioned
  • Windshield replaced — camera removed and refitted during the glass replacement
  • Software reset cleared calibration data
  • New Mobileye unit installed without completing the calibration drive
  • Vehicle type or mounting height changed (e.g., after a body repair that altered vehicle ride height)

How to Fix It

  1. Do not attempt to drive with the calibration warning and expect normal collision warnings.

An uncalibrated Mobileye will not provide accurate warnings — distances and timing will be incorrect. The system may give false alerts or miss real hazards.

  2. Contact a Mobileye authorised installer to perform the calibration.

Mobileye calibration requires a specific driving procedure — typically a 10–20 minute drive at moderate speed on a road with lane markings. The installer will supervise or perform this calibration drive.

  3. After windshield replacement, arrange Mobileye recalibration immediately.

Any workshop that replaces a windshield on a Mobileye-equipped vehicle should arrange ADAS recalibration as part of the job. If your workshop does not offer this, contact a Mobileye installer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I calibrate Mobileye myself?

The calibration drive itself (driving at moderate speed on a marked road) can be done by anyone, but the calibration must be initiated by an installer using Mobileye's configuration tool. You cannot start calibration mode from the driver's display alone.

How long does Mobileye calibration take?

The calibration drive typically takes 10–20 minutes at 60–80 km/h on a road with clear lane markings. The system automatically completes calibration when it has collected enough data. Including setup, a typical calibration appointment takes 30–45 minutes.
