Camera Blocked
Mobileye ADAS Collision Warning System
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
A camera blocked warning on Mobileye means the system cannot see a clear road image — the camera's field of view is obstructed by dirt, moisture, an object on the windshield, or a direct sun glare event. All collision warnings are disabled until the camera has a clear view. This is usually resolved by cleaning the windshield.
Affected Models

Common Causes
- Windshield dirty or smeared in the camera's field of view — most common cause
- Ice, snow, or frost on the windshield in front of the camera
- Sun glare directly into the camera — driving toward the sun at low elevation
- Rain, water drops on the windshield area in front of the camera
- Sticker, toll transponder, or other object attached to the windshield near the camera
- Tinted film applied to the windshield covering the camera area
How to Fix It
-
Clean the windshield on the outside in the area directly in front of the camera.
The Mobileye camera looks through the windshield — a dirty windshield is the most common cause of a camera blocked warning. Use a clean windshield washer fluid and wiper, or clean manually with a glass cleaner and microfibre cloth. Pay attention to the area directly in front of the camera unit.
-
Clean the inside of the windshield in the camera's area.
Haze, dust, or oily film on the inside of the glass also blocks the camera. Wipe the inner windshield surface in the camera's forward view area with a clean glass cloth.
-
Remove any objects attached to the windshield near the camera.
Parking permits, registration stickers, and suction-cup accessories near the camera mount can block or reflect into the camera lens. Relocate these items away from the camera area.
-
If the warning appears in direct sunlight, wait for the sun angle to change.
Intense direct sun at sunrise or sunset can temporarily overwhelm the camera. This is a transient condition that clears automatically.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does camera blocked mean my Mobileye is broken?
No — camera blocked is not a hardware fault. It means the camera cannot see through the windshield clearly enough. Clean the windshield and the warning will clear automatically once the camera detects a clear view again.
Can a cracked windshield cause camera blocked?
Yes — a crack or chip in the windshield directly in the camera's field of view diffracts light and can cause a permanent camera blocked condition. If the windshield needs replacement due to a crack in the camera zone, the Mobileye system must be recalibrated after the new windshield is fitted.
