Common Causes
- Speaker frozen and unresponsive to normal controls
- Bluetooth pairing list full or corrupted
- Preparing to give away or sell the speaker
- Persistent audio or connectivity bug that a restart does not resolve
How to Fix It
-
SoundLink Flex reset
Hold the Power button and Volume Down (–) button simultaneously for 10 seconds. The speaker powers off and then back on with a startup tone. All pairings are cleared.
-
SoundLink Max reset
Press and hold the Power button and Volume Down (–) button together for 10 seconds until the Bose logo appears on the display. Release — the speaker resets.
-
SoundLink Revolve / Revolve+ reset
Hold the Multifunction button (top of the speaker) for 10 seconds until the Bluetooth indicator blinks. The speaker voice-prompts 'Your settings have been cleared'.
-
SoundLink Color II / III reset
Hold the Aux button and the Volume Down (–) button simultaneously for 10 seconds. The power LED pulses to confirm the reset.
-
Clear only the pairing list (without full reset)
Hold the Bluetooth button for 10 seconds until you hear 'Bluetooth device list cleared'. This removes all paired devices without resetting sound settings or Wi-Fi — useful for reconnection issues.
When to Call a Professional
A factory reset is a software operation — no professional service is needed. If the speaker does not respond to the reset combination, it may be frozen due to a dead battery. Charge first, then retry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Bose speaker reset button combination not working — what do I do?
The reset combination must be held firmly for the full 10 seconds — partial holds do not trigger the reset. Also ensure the speaker has enough battery (connect charger first). A dead battery prevents the reset from completing.
Does a Bose factory reset delete my music or settings?
Bose speakers do not store music locally — audio streams from your phone over Bluetooth. A factory reset clears paired devices, Wi-Fi credentials (on Smart Speakers), and volume presets. It does not delete anything from your phone.
After Bose reset, speaker won't pair — how to fix?
After a reset, the speaker enters pairing mode automatically. On your phone, go to Settings → Bluetooth → scan for new devices. Select your Bose model from the list.
