E7
Electra Split AC
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
E7 on an Electra AC means the indoor fan motor is not running when the control board expects it to. Without the indoor fan, no air passes over the evaporator coil — the coil would ice up rapidly and block all cooling. Electra shuts the system down immediately when the indoor fan fault is detected.
Affected Models
- Electra Avante Inverter
- Electra Classic Inverter
- Electra Alpha Series
- Electra Split AC (all inverter models)
- Electra 1 Ton / 1.5 Ton / 2 Ton Inverter
Common Causes
- Foreign object (insect, debris, leaf) jammed inside the fan wheel
- Fan motor bearing seized — the motor shaft cannot rotate
- Fan wheel cracked and rubbing against the housing, stalling the motor
- Fan motor winding failure — motor draws excessive current
- Loose wiring at the fan motor terminal or the indoor PCB
- Indoor PCB not delivering the correct voltage signal to the fan motor
How to Fix It
-
Switch off the AC and circuit breaker.
Do not restart the AC without investigating — the evaporator coil will ice over within minutes without airflow.
-
Open the front panel and inspect the fan wheel with a torch.
Look for foreign objects between the fan blades or lodged in the scroll housing. With the power OFF, try rotating the fan wheel gently by hand — it should turn smoothly with light resistance.
-
If an obstruction is found, remove it carefully and restart.
After clearing the obstruction, restore power and restart. Listen for the fan starting — you should feel airflow within a few seconds.
-
If the fan is seized or E7 returns, call a technician.
A seized fan motor or failed capacitor needs professional replacement.
When to Call a Professional
E7 requires a licensed technician unless you can see and remove an obvious obstruction. Fan motor replacement involves disassembling the indoor unit and working with electrical components.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can insects cause Electra E7?
Yes — geckos, cockroaches, and other insects can find their way into the indoor unit and jam the fan wheel. This is more common in hot climates. Regular annual servicing, which includes cleaning inside the unit, reduces the risk.
How do I know the indoor fan is not running?
If you switch the AC on and hear it activate (lights, beep) but feel no air coming from the vents, the fan is likely not spinning. E7 usually appears simultaneously on the display.
