E1

Tadiran Split AC

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

E1 on a Tadiran AC means the indoor ambient temperature sensor (room thermistor) has failed or is reading an out-of-range value. This sensor measures the room temperature and tells the AC when it has reached the set temperature. Tadiran shuts the system down until the sensor fault is resolved.

Affected Models

  • Tadiran Inverter Split AC
  • Tadiran Breeze Series
  • Tadiran T-MAX Series
  • Tadiran Coral Series
  • Tadiran Split AC (all inverter models)

Common Causes

  • Indoor ambient thermistor has failed — resistance value out of specification
  • Thermistor connector loose or disconnected at the indoor PCB
  • Thermistor wiring pinched or damaged inside the indoor unit casing
  • Dust or moisture buildup affecting the thermistor reading
  • Indoor PCB fault causing incorrect interpretation of the sensor signal

How to Fix It

  1. Turn off the AC at the remote and switch off the circuit breaker.

Wait 5 minutes to allow the system to fully power down, then restore power and restart once.

  2. If E1 clears after a power cycle, monitor the AC for the next hour.

A transient E1 caused by a voltage spike or brief moisture event may not return. If E1 comes back consistently, the thermistor has a real fault.

  3. Check and clean the air filters.

Heavily blocked filters can cause the thermistor area to overheat, producing false readings. Clean the filters and try again.

  4. If E1 persists, call an authorised Tadiran technician.

Tadiran has an authorised service network — contact Tadiran customer support or your installing dealer.

When to Call a Professional

E1 requires a licensed AC technician. The technician will test the thermistor resistance with a multimeter. A faulty thermistor is an inexpensive part and a straightforward repair.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Tadiran and where are their ACs sold?

Tadiran is an Israeli brand with a long history in electronics and home appliances. Tadiran air conditioners are sold primarily in Israel and are a well-known household brand there. Their inverter split ACs are comparable in performance and reliability to other major Asian-manufactured inverter brands.

Can Tadiran E1 be caused by a power surge?

Yes — a voltage spike can cause a transient fault on the thermistor circuit, producing a false E1. A power cycle usually clears this. If your home experiences frequent power fluctuations, fitting a voltage stabiliser on the AC circuit can prevent repeated false error codes.
