Charging Very Slowly

EcoFlow Portable Power Station

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

EcoFlow units charge fastest with their own AC brick charger — the DELTA charges at up to 1800W (full charge in about 1 hour). If charging is much slower, check that the AC charger is plugged into a full-rated outlet (not a low-current extension lead) and that the charging rate in the app is not manually limited.

Affected Models

  • EcoFlow DELTA
  • EcoFlow DELTA Pro
  • EcoFlow DELTA Max
  • EcoFlow DELTA 2
  • EcoFlow RIVER
  • EcoFlow RIVER Pro
  • EcoFlow RIVER 2

Common Causes

  • Using a low-wattage charger or phone charger instead of the EcoFlow AC brick
  • Charging rate manually limited in the EcoFlow app (useful for silent overnight charging)
  • Extension lead or surge protector restricting current below 1800W
  • Solar panels producing low output due to clouds or shade
  • Battery in trickle charge phase (last 20%) — normal slow-down

How to Fix It

  1. Use the original EcoFlow AC brick charger directly in the wall.

The fastest charge comes from the EcoFlow brick charger plugged directly into a wall socket. Avoid extension leads, surge protectors, or UPS devices — they often limit current below the EcoFlow's peak input.

  2. Check the charging rate in the EcoFlow app.

Open the EcoFlow app → your device → Settings → AC Charging. If Input Limit is set to a value below the maximum (e.g. 200W instead of 1800W), increase it to maximum. This setting is often used for silent overnight charging and left enabled by mistake.

  3. Check the wall outlet amperage.

EcoFlow DELTA charges at up to 1800W, which draws about 15A at 120V or 8A at 230V. Confirm the wall outlet is on a circuit with sufficient rating. Power boards and extension leads rated under 10A will throttle the charging speed.

  4. Check solar panel conditions if using solar.

Solar charging speed depends entirely on sunlight. On a cloudy day, a 400W panel may only produce 40–80W. Position panels in direct sun, angle them towards the sun, and ensure no shadows fall across any part of the panels.

  5. Accept the normal slowdown above 80% charge.

All lithium battery chargers slow down in the final 20% — this is normal trickle charging. EcoFlow's fast charger speeds through 0–80% quickly but the last 20% takes roughly the same time again.

When to Call a Professional

If the unit charges slowly even from the original AC brick on a direct wall outlet with no load, the charging circuit may be degraded. Contact EcoFlow support.

Frequently Asked Questions

EcoFlow DELTA charges at only 300W from the wall instead of 1800W — why?

The most likely cause is the Input Limit in the EcoFlow app being set to 300W. This silent charging mode reduces fan noise and heat — useful overnight. Open the app, go to AC Charging settings, and increase the input limit to maximum.

EcoFlow solar charging shows 0W even on a sunny day — what is wrong?

Check the solar cable connection at both the panel and the EcoFlow. Also verify the panel voltage — EcoFlow requires a minimum input voltage (usually 12V) before it begins charging. Shade, wrong connectors, or a damaged cable can keep voltage below this threshold.
