Error Code on Display

EcoFlow Portable Power Station

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

EcoFlow error codes appear when the BMS detects a fault — overcharge, overdischarge, overtemperature, short circuit, or a hardware issue. Note the exact code shown, turn the unit off, disconnect everything, and contact EcoFlow support with the code.

Affected Models

  • EcoFlow DELTA
  • EcoFlow DELTA Pro
  • EcoFlow DELTA Max
  • EcoFlow DELTA 2
  • EcoFlow RIVER
  • EcoFlow RIVER Pro
  • EcoFlow RIVER 2

Common Causes

  • E001 / E002 — Battery overvoltage or undervoltage detected by BMS
  • E003 / E004 — Battery or ambient overtemperature
  • E005 — Charging overcurrent (too much current entering the battery)
  • E006 — Discharging overcurrent (device drawing too much power)
  • E007 — Short circuit detected on an output port
  • E010–E012 — Internal hardware or communication fault between BMS and inverter

How to Fix It

  1. Note the exact error code displayed.

Write down or photograph the code (e.g. E003, E006). The specific number tells EcoFlow support exactly which fault the BMS detected. Do not guess — an E003 (overtemperature) requires a different response than an E006 (overcurrent).

  2. Turn off the unit and disconnect everything.

Press the power button to turn the EcoFlow off. Unplug all connected devices from all output ports. Unplug the charger from the input port. Leave everything disconnected.

  3. Allow the unit to cool (for E003 / E004 temperature faults).

If the unit is warm or hot to the touch and the code is E003 or E004, move it to a cool, ventilated area and wait 30 minutes. Overtemperature faults often clear after the unit cools, and the error should not reappear in normal operating conditions.

  4. Power-cycle after cooling or waiting 10 minutes.

After everything is disconnected and the unit has had time to settle, press and hold the power button to restart. If the error does not return immediately, the fault may have been transient.

  5. Contact EcoFlow support if the code returns.

A recurring error code indicates a persistent BMS or hardware fault that requires service. EcoFlow provides a 5-year warranty on DELTA models. Contact support at ecoflow.com with your model, serial number, and the error code.

When to Call a Professional

Most EcoFlow error codes require professional diagnosis or warranty service. If power-cycling does not clear the code, contact EcoFlow support immediately with the exact code.

Frequently Asked Questions

EcoFlow shows E003 every time I charge it in a hot car — is it broken?

E003 is an overtemperature fault — the unit is shutting down to protect the battery from heat damage. Do not charge the EcoFlow in direct sun or inside a hot car. Charge it in a shaded, ventilated location below 40°C.

EcoFlow error code cleared after I restarted but came back — what does that mean?

A recurring error code that clears on restart but returns under the same conditions points to a real fault — not a glitch. The BMS keeps detecting the same problem. Do not continue using the unit — contact EcoFlow support for a warranty assessment.
