Couldn't Sync

Samsung Smart Ring

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Samsung Health shows a sync failure when it cannot transfer Galaxy Ring data to your phone.
The ring records normally — the issue is the link between ring and phone.
Cause is usually Bluetooth on the phone, the ring being out of range, or Samsung Health needing a refresh.
Most cases resolve in under five minutes by restarting Bluetooth and force-quitting the app.

Affected Models

  • Samsung Galaxy Ring (all sizes)

Common Causes

  • Bluetooth disabled on the phone
  • Ring battery very low
  • Samsung Health app permissions revoked
  • Phone Battery Saver mode throttling background sync
  • Galaxy Wearable app needs reinstall (some Android Auto setups)
  • Multiple phones logged in to the same Samsung account

How to Fix It

  1. Check Bluetooth and ring proximity.

Phone Settings → Bluetooth → on.
Make sure the ring is on the same hand as the phone or within a few feet.
Bluetooth Low Energy is short-range — across-the-house communication is unreliable.

  2. Force-quit and reopen Samsung Health.

Close Samsung Health completely (recent apps menu, swipe up).
    Reopen.
Pull down on the home screen to trigger a manual sync.
Many silent sync failures clear here.

  3. Disable Battery Saver.

Settings → Battery → Battery Saver → off.
Saver mode blocks background sync to extend battery life — but it also breaks sync that depends on the app polling the ring.

  4. Check Samsung Health permissions.

Settings → Apps → Samsung Health → Permissions.
Allow Nearby Devices, Bluetooth, and Physical Activity.
One missing permission silently blocks sync without an explicit error.

  5. Restart Bluetooth fully.

Toggle Bluetooth off, wait 10 seconds, toggle on.
This forces a fresh Bluetooth state.
Pairing is preserved — no need to re-pair after toggle.

  6. Update Samsung Health and Galaxy Wearable.

    Galaxy Store → Updates.
Apply updates to Samsung Health, Galaxy Wearable, and Galaxy Ring plug-in.
All three need to be current for reliable sync.

  7. Reboot the phone.

If the above fail, restart the phone.
    Long-running phones accumulate Bluetooth quirks.
A reboot resets the wireless stack cleanly.

  8. Re-pair as last resort.

Galaxy Wearable → Galaxy Ring → Disconnect, then re-pair.
This wipes the local pairing only.
Historical data on Samsung Health stays — it lives in the Samsung cloud, not on the phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I lose any data if I re-pair?

No.
Samsung Health data syncs to Samsung's cloud once the connection is restored.
The ring stores a few days of data on board, so even a long sync gap usually catches up.
Re-pairing resets only the device link, not your records.
