Charger Contact Error
Ultrahuman Smart Ring
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
The Ultrahuman Ring AIR charges via small contact pins on its charging dock.
If the LED on the dock does not light or the app shows no charging state, the ring is not making electrical contact.
Cause is almost always misalignment, dirty contacts, or a USB cable that does not deliver enough current.
Most fixes take less than five minutes.
Affected Models
- Ultrahuman Ring AIR (all colours and sizes)
Common Causes
- Ring not aligned with the dock pins
- Ring's inner contacts dirty from skin oil
- Pogo pins on the dock dirty or stuck
- USB-C cable damaged or data-only
- Wall adapter underpowered (laptop USB ports often)
- Dock magnet weakened (rare, on older units)
How to Fix It
-
Reseat the ring on the dock.
Lift the ring off, then place it back so it snaps into the magnetic alignment.
The ring should sit firmly on the dock with no wobble.
Misalignment is the most common cause of no charging. -
Clean the ring's inner contacts.
Wipe the inside of the ring with a soft cloth and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol.
Skin oil, sweat, and lotion build up over weeks of wear.
Let dry fully before placing on the charger. -
Inspect the dock pogo pins.
The small spring-loaded pins on the dock should sit slightly proud and depress smoothly when pressed.
Stuck or recessed pins lose contact.
Gently exercise each with a wooden toothpick — never metal. -
Try a different USB-C cable.
Cheap or data-only USB-C cables are surprisingly common.
Use a known-good cable from a recent phone or tablet.
If a different cable lights the dock LED, the original cable was the issue. -
Try a different wall adapter.
Laptop USB ports and USB hubs often deliver too little current.
Use a 5V/1A or higher wall adapter.
A phone charger usually works.
Confirm the dock LED comes on with the new adapter. -
Confirm in the app.
Open Ultrahuman.
The home screen shows ring battery and charging state when on the dock.
Charging icon = working.
No icon = ring is not detecting power even with the dock LED on. -
Wait 30 minutes for deep discharge.
If the ring battery was completely flat, it can take 15-30 minutes of trickle charging before the dock LED transitions to its full charging state.
Plug in, walk away, return later. -
Contact Ultrahuman support.
If alignment, contacts, cable, and adapter all check out but charging fails, the dock has a hardware fault.
Ultrahuman covers warranty replacement on dock and ring.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long should a full charge take on the Ring AIR?
From completely empty, expect 90-120 minutes for a full charge.
From around 20%, expect about 60 minutes.
If the dock LED shows charging but the percentage is not climbing in the app over an hour, the contacts are not making clean electrical connection.
