Sound Out of Sync

Hisense Smart TV

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Audio that is out of sync with the picture on a Hisense TV is usually caused by the TV's audio processing adding latency, or Bluetooth audio delay from wireless headphones/soundbar. Adjusting the A/V Sync setting in Sound settings compensates for the delay and re-aligns audio and video.

Affected Models

  • Hisense U8K
  • Hisense U7K
  • Hisense U6K
  • Hisense A6K
  • Hisense R6 Series

Common Causes

  • The TV's internal audio processing (surround sound simulation, equalizer) is adding latency
  • Bluetooth audio to wireless headphones or a soundbar has inherent 100 to 300 ms delay
  • An HDMI eARC soundbar has a processing delay that does not match the TV's video pipeline
  • The streaming app or source device is outputting audio and video with a pre-existing sync offset
  • A firmware update changed the audio pipeline latency

How to Fix It

  1. Open Sound settings and find the A/V Sync or Audio Delay control: Settings → Sound → Advanced Settings → A/V Sync.

Increase the delay value if audio is ahead of the picture. Decrease it if audio lags behind. Adjust in small increments while watching a talking scene.

  2. Disable surround sound processing: Settings → Sound → Sound Mode → set to Standard or Movie instead of Stadium or Virtual Surround.

Surround sound simulation adds processing latency. Disabling it reduces audio delay noticeably.

  3. For Bluetooth audio (headphones/soundbar), look for A/V Sync or Bluetooth Audio Delay in the Sound settings and increase the delay to compensate.

Bluetooth inherently delays audio by 100–300 ms. A matching video delay brings lips back in sync.

  4. For an HDMI eARC soundbar, check the soundbar's own audio delay setting. Most soundbars have an audio delay or lip sync adjustment in their settings menu.

The delay may be in the soundbar, not the TV. Adjust both until sync is correct.

  5. Power cycle the TV and the connected audio device.

A sync issue that appeared suddenly without any settings changes often resolves after a clean restart of both the TV and the soundbar.

When to Call a Professional

Audio sync issues are always software or settings related — no hardware service is needed. If the sync problem only occurs with one streaming service or one app, report it to that service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Audio sync was fine and then suddenly drifted — what caused it?

A firmware update, an app update, or switching audio output mode can shift the audio pipeline latency. Reset the A/V Sync offset to zero first and check if the sync issue is actually gone. Then readjust in the direction needed.

Sync is fine on Netflix but off on live TV — why?

Different content sources have different audio-video offsets. Live TV (cable, antenna) sometimes broadcasts with a built-in offset. Adjusting A/V Sync for one input may shift it for another — note your preferred settings per input.

Is there a way to fix lip sync automatically on Hisense?

Some Hisense models have an Auto A/V Sync option that detects and compensates for audio delay automatically. Look for it under Settings → Sound → Advanced Settings. If it is available, enabling it is the simplest fix.
