Error 5 (5 Beeps)
Eufy Robot Vacuum
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
Eufy Error 5 (5 beeps or Error 5 in the app) means the side brush is jammed and cannot spin. Flip the robot over, remove the side brush, clear any hair or debris from the brush shaft and the brush socket, and reattach.
Affected Models
- Eufy RoboVac 11S
- Eufy RoboVac 15C
- Eufy RoboVac 25C
- Eufy RoboVac 30C
- Eufy RoboVac G30
- Eufy RoboVac X8
- Eufy RoboVac L70
Common Causes
- Hair or string wrapped around the side brush shaft — most common cause
- Debris lodged between the side brush and the robot body
- Side brush arm bent preventing correct rotation
- Side brush motor fault (rare)
How to Fix It
-
Power off the RoboVac and flip it over.
Always power off before working on the brush to prevent injury. The side brush is the small star-shaped or spiral brush on the underside front-left or front-right of the robot.
-
Remove the side brush.
The side brush screws off counter-clockwise — hold the center of the brush and turn it left. Some models have a single Phillips screw holding the brush cap. Once removed, inspect the brush shaft and the socket it sits in.
-
Clear hair and debris from the shaft and socket.
Use scissors to cut through any hair wound around the shaft. Use a thin tool (toothpick, tweezers) to pull debris out of the socket. Hair wrapping around the shaft is the cause of the vast majority of Error 5 faults.
-
Reattach the side brush and test.
Screw the brush back on clockwise until it is snug. Power on the RoboVac and start a short cleaning cycle. The Error 5 should not recur if the obstruction was cleared.
-
Replace the side brush if it is bent or the shaft is damaged.
Eufy replacement side brushes are inexpensive ($5-10 for a pack of 4-6) and are widely available. A bent brush arm cannot spin freely and will retrigger Error 5 even when clean. Replace worn or deformed side brushes proactively — they are a consumable.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should Eufy side brushes be replaced?
Eufy recommends replacing side brushes every 3-6 months under regular daily use. In homes with long hair or pets, monthly inspection and cleaning of the brush shaft extends their life. Worn side brushes are less effective at sweeping debris toward the suction inlet and should be replaced when bent or losing bristles.
My Eufy keeps getting Error 5 even after cleaning the brush — what is wrong?
Recurring Error 5 after cleaning suggests either the side brush motor is failing, or the brush socket is damaged and the brush wobbles rather than spinning freely. Remove the brush and try spinning the shaft manually with your finger — it should turn with light resistance. If the shaft does not turn or grinds, the motor needs replacement.
