Error 9 (9 Beeps)
Eufy Robot Vacuum
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
Eufy Error 9 means the front bumper is stuck or jammed and not springing back correctly. The most common cause is debris caught behind the bumper. Tap the bumper firmly several times to dislodge debris, then clean the bumper rail with a dry cloth.
Affected Models
- Eufy RoboVac 11S
- Eufy RoboVac 15C
- Eufy RoboVac 25C
- Eufy RoboVac 30C
- Eufy RoboVac G30
- Eufy RoboVac X8
Common Causes
- Debris or grit caught in the gap between the bumper and the robot body
- Bumper slightly deformed from a collision — not springing back freely
- Hair or string wrapped around the bumper sensor pins
- Bumper sensor (infrared or contact) fault
How to Fix It
-
Tap the front bumper firmly several times.
Press the bumper inward firmly with your hand 5-10 times across its full width. This dislodges small debris (grit, crumbs, hair) caught in the gap between the bumper and the robot chassis. This simple step resolves the majority of Error 9 faults.
-
Clean the bumper gap with a dry cloth or soft brush.
Run a dry cloth or toothbrush along the gap between the bumper and the chassis to remove dust and debris. Do not push debris further into the gap. For fine grit, use compressed air in short bursts directed into the gap from above.
-
Press the bumper to confirm it springs back freely.
Press the bumper inward by about 5-10mm and release. It should spring back immediately with no sticking. If any section of the bumper feels sluggish or does not return, there is debris in that section — focus cleaning there.
-
Power cycle the RoboVac.
After clearing the bumper, power off the robot completely using the on/off switch on the bottom. Wait 10 seconds, power back on, and start a cleaning cycle. Error 9 should not appear if the bumper moves freely.
-
Contact Eufy support if Error 9 persists.
A bumper that springs back freely but still triggers Error 9 has a faulty bumper sensor. Eufy robots are covered by a 12-month warranty. Contact Eufy support at support.eufylife.com with your model and order number.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Eufy keep getting Error 9 in the same room?
Recurring Error 9 in a specific area usually means there is debris on the floor in that area (grit, cat litter, small pebbles) that keeps getting caught in the bumper. Inspect and clean the floor in that area. Also check for door thresholds, cable protectors, or uneven flooring that might be hitting the bumper unevenly.
Is Error 9 the same as Error 2 on Eufy?
No — Error 2 (2 beeps) means the RoboVac is stuck and cannot move forward or backward. Error 9 specifically means the bumper is not returning to its resting position after contact. Both can occur near the same obstacle but the underlying cause and fix are different.
