Wyze Security Camera

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Wyze Error Code 03 with the message 'Connection failed. Please try again later (Error code 03)' shows when the Wyze app made contact with Wyze's cloud and the camera, but the relay between them couldn't establish.
It is a network handshake problem, not a dead camera.
Most cases come down to the phone's connection (cell vs WiFi), router QoS, or a temporary Wyze relay issue.
Switching networks or restarting the app clears it.

Affected Models

  • Wyze Cam v2, v3, OG
  • Wyze Cam Pan
  • Wyze Cam Outdoor
  • Wyze viewing app on iOS and Android

Common Causes

  • Phone on a network that blocks the relay protocol
  • Carrier-grade NAT on cellular preventing peer connection
  • Router QoS deprioritising camera traffic
  • Wyze app needs an update
  • Wyze cloud relay congestion at peak times

How to Fix It

  1. Switch the phone's network.

If you're on cellular, switch to WiFi.
If you're on WiFi, switch to cellular.
    Try Live View again.
If it works on one but not the other, you've identified the culprit — that network has a relay-blocking issue.
If both fail, the issue is on the camera side or with Wyze.

  2. Force-close and reopen the Wyze app.

Phone: swipe up from recent apps and remove Wyze.
iOS: Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Wyze → Offload App, then reinstall.
Reopen the app and try Live View.
App-side relay state often gets stuck and a fresh launch clears it.

  3. Power cycle the camera.

Unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug back in.
Wait for the LED to show solid blue.
    Try Live View again.
Camera-side relay state can also get stuck; a reboot usually clears Error 03 caused by that.

  4. Update the Wyze app.

Open the App Store / Play Store and update Wyze if there's a newer version.
Older app builds had specific Error 03 issues that were fixed in newer releases.
Update is fast and doesn't affect your camera setup.

  5. Check Wyze status.

    Visit status.wyze.com.
If they have a relay or live-view incident, your only option is to wait — Wyze fixes it server-side.
Most outages clear within an hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Error 03 happen most often on cellular?

Carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT) on mobile networks puts thousands of phones behind a single public IP.
The peer-to-peer style relay Wyze uses for live video doesn't always traverse CGNAT cleanly.
You'll see Error 03 more often on certain carriers, and almost never on home WiFi.
The fix is to use WiFi when at home or to upgrade to Wyze's cloud-relayed video stream tier (CamPlus).
