Wyze Security Camera
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
Wyze Error Code 90 with the message 'Camera is offline (Error code 90)' or 'The device is offline. Please check your network and the device' shows up when the Wyze app cannot reach the camera through Wyze's cloud relay.
The camera might be powered off, disconnected from WiFi, on the wrong network, or its firmware has crashed.
Walk through power, WiFi, and a power-cycle and the camera comes back in most cases.
Affected Models
- Wyze Cam v2
- Wyze Cam v3 and v3 Pro
- Wyze Cam Pan v1, v2, v3
- Wyze Cam Outdoor (battery)
- Wyze Cam OG and OG Telephoto
Common Causes
- Camera lost power — unplugged or breaker tripped
- WiFi router rebooted or password changed
- Camera moved out of WiFi range
- Camera on 5 GHz network it can't actually use
- Firmware crashed — the camera looks online but isn't talking to Wyze
- Wyze cloud outage (rare but check status.wyze.com)
How to Fix It
-
Confirm the camera has power.
Check that the USB cable is plugged in and the outlet has power.
Outdoor cameras: confirm the battery isn't fully drained (charge with the included cable for 4-5 hours).
The status LED on the camera should be on — solid blue or yellow if working, off if no power. -
Power-cycle the camera.
Unplug the camera (or remove the battery cam from its mount).
Wait 30 seconds.
Plug it back in.
Watch the status LED — it should go through yellow (booting) → blinking yellow (waiting for WiFi) → solid blue (connected).
If it gets stuck, see the next step. -
Reboot your WiFi router.
Unplug the router for 30 seconds, plug back in.
Wait 2-3 minutes for it to come fully online.
The camera should auto-reconnect within 5 minutes of the router returning.
If the LED stays blinking yellow, the camera can't see the network — go to the next step. -
Check the WiFi network.
Wyze cameras only join 2.4 GHz WiFi.
If you split your network into separate 2.4 and 5 GHz names, make sure the camera was originally set up on the 2.4 GHz one.
If you recently merged the two into a smart-band 'one name' network, the camera may have ended up on 5 GHz and lost connection. -
Re-add the camera if it stays offline.
In the Wyze app, tap the camera → Settings (gear icon) → Delete Device.
Then run setup again from the home screen → '+'.
This forces a fresh WiFi credential exchange.
Past video clips on the SD card stay; cloud clips are tied to the device removal.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long until Wyze marks a camera offline?
Wyze servers expect a heartbeat every few minutes.
If they miss about 5-10 minutes worth, the camera is marked offline and Error Code 90 shows in the app.
Brief network blips don't count — the camera catches up.
Persistent offline for hours means the camera lost its connection completely or its firmware crashed.
